The news about chocolate gets even better! Already chocolate has been shown to provide impressive health benefits. The cocoa phytochemicals serve as antioxidants. The cocoa component catechin may help lower blood pressure and help process insulin. But the calories in chocolate foods have rightfully promoted caution because of their obesity promoting potential.
Now a study from Archives of Internal Medicine, Association Between More Frequent Chocolate Consumption and Lower Body Mass Index, found that the Californians studied who ate more chocolate more frequently were slimmer than those that did not!. The slimmer chocolate eaters did not exercise more and actually took in more calories.
Still, this study does not OK gorging on chocolate, but does affirm the Well-Being Skills guideline favorable to eating an ounce of pure dark chocolate daily.
